Capital of 🇫🇷 France with a population of around 2.2 million people.

Paris is a city of light. From the shimmering Eiffel Tower to the graceful arches of the Louvre, the city is an enduring monument to human achievement. But Paris is more than just a pretty face. Beneath the surface lies a heart of darkness, a place where artists and criminals alike have left their mark. Wander the winding streets of the Latin Quarter, where Hemingway drank and Picasso prowled, or explore the shadowy catacombs that run beneath the city. Glimpse the city’s seedy underbelly in the red-light district of Pigalle, or lose yourself in the endless rows of books at the world’s largest bookstore, Shakespeare and Company. Whatever your interests, Paris has something to offer. Soak up the city’s unique atmosphere, and you’ll never forget your time in the City of Light.

What people say about Paris

paris is the best of the best

Went in 2019 with my two close friends. We ended up renting an Airbnb which was in one of the not so safe neighbourhoods with lots of tents on the streets and people showering outside. It was quite a culture shock. We wandered the streets and saw some of the key monuments. I loved being part of a service at Sacre Ceur where everyone sang hymns. I think we all loved parks and long walks past Seine the most. We also enjoyed the Shakespeare and co. bookshop by the now burnt down Notre Damme and all the food we had there was delicious. The Eiffel Tower was surrounded by heavily armed men which was another culture shock for us. The crowds of tourists and people selling ugly trinkets were difficult to deal with and made us not want to see the most well known places. Some protests were always taking place around and we weren't able to visit everything we wanted because of them. Probably the least safe I ever felt in a major European city.

A great city to visit with its beautiful architecture and endless streets to wander. I like not having a plan at all when here and simply explore the city on foot after deciding on a nice neighborhood. It is also a perfect place to sit down at a corner café to just watch life in the city. Perhaps with a nice sandwich to sample some deliciously smelly cheese. Nice food in a beautiful energetic city, what not to like!

I always love visiting Paris

I LOVED Paris! I wasn't sure initially if I would as I imagined it was going to be very touristy and not as impressive as many of us imagine. I was surprised! I found people to be very friendly! Even I was sitting on a bench and an older French lady walked past and told me I was beautiful. That's not something "rude" people would do. I even lost my phone (it fell off my bike) and a French local tracked me down and gave me back my phone. Crazy! I also made an effort to use my limited French vocabulary and I think it went a long way in making people be friendly. My days there were spent cycling around the city, eating croissants and macaroons, and walking through gardens and seeing the major tourist sites from the outside.

The cakes I tried here were heavenly good tho I was not impressed much by the other food. The city was both full of romance and fashion vibe. I also like their beautiful architectures. Unfortunately that I haven't got a chance to climb to Eiffel tower yet. It was close in the public holiday when I was there Just one minus thing is I felt like it was not safe to be on the street at night outside the city center and seemed like the Parisian looked not friendly to me :)
