Mende is a sleepy little town in the south of France that is home to one of the most important Romanesque cathedrals in the country. The Cathédrale Saint-Pierre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and with its ornate carvings and imposing facade, it’s easy to see why. The town is also surrounded by beautiful countryside, with the River Lot flowing through it and the Mende Mountains providing a dramatic backdrop. There’s not a lot to do in Mende itself, but it’s a great place to relax and take in the natural beauty of the area. And with the cathedral as its main attraction, it’s definitely worth a visit.
