Pontarlier is a small city in eastern France, near the Swiss and German borders. It’s best known as the birthplace of absinthe, and the city’s Museum of Absinthe is one of the most popular tourist destinations. Pontarlier is also a convenient base for exploring the nearby Jura Mountains and the lakes of the Doubs and Swiss valleys.
