Telavi is the capital of the Georgian province of Kakheti and the administrative center of the Telavi District. It is located on the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains, around 85 kilometers east of Tbilisi, the nation's capital. The city is home to about 30,000 inhabitants. Telavi is an important center of wine production.
