North Korea
North Korea is a country located in East Asia, bordered by China and Russia to the north, and South Korea to the south. The country is made up of the Korean Peninsula, and several smaller islands.
North Korea is a socialist state, and the government is led by the ruling party, the Workers' Party of Korea. The capital city is Pyongyang. North Korea is known for its mass production of military equipment and its nuclear weapons program. The country is one of the poorest and also the most isolated in the world due to its strict rules regarding who can visit and who can leave the country. Most people only see it from the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. People who actually visit North Korea tend to do it as part of organized tours where a very polished experience is provided by government guides.
The cuisine of North Korea is based on rice, noodles, and vegetables. Popular dishes include kimchi (fermented cabbage), bibimbap (rice and vegetables), and japchae (stir-fried noodles).
