Kaesong is the old capital of the Goryeo Dynasty, which ruled Korea from 918 to 1392. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the home of the Koryo Museum, which contains many priceless relics of that period. The city is also home to the Kaesong Industrial Region, a joint North-South venture established in 2003. The region is home to dozens of small- and medium-sized factories, which produce a range of goods, from clothing and textiles to food and beverages.
