Nampo is a city on the west coast of North Korea. It is the capital of South Pyongan Province. Nampo is located in the central area of the country, and is an important transportation hub. The city has a population of about half a million people. Nampo is a major industrial center, and is home to the Nampo Steel Mill, the largest in the country. The city is also a port, and is the terminus of the Korean State Railway's P'yŏngnam Line. Nampo is also the location of the Kim Jong-il Sunan International Airport.
