Lithuania
Lithuania is a small country located in northeastern Europe. It is bordered by Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east, Poland to the south, and Kaliningrad Oblast (a Russian exclave) to the southwest.
Lithuania is a beautiful country with a varied landscape. Much of the country is covered by forests and there are also many lakes and rivers. The capital city, Vilnius, is located in the southeastern part of the country and is known for its baroque architecture. Other popular tourist destinations in Lithuania include the seaside resort town of Palanga, the hilltop castle of Trakai, the sand dunes of the Curonian Spit, and the spa town of Druskininkai.
Lithuanian cuisine is based on fresh, local ingredients. Popular dishes include zeppelins (potato dumplings stuffed with meat), kugelis (potato pudding), and cepelinai (potato dumplings stuffed with cottage cheese). For dessert, try spurgos (cream puffs) or kompotas (fruit compote).
