This six-mile Pacific coast walkway stretches along Lima's cliffs, with paragliding spots, a cliffside mall, and the romantic El Beso statue overlooking the ocean and beaches below.
The Miraflores Boardwalk winds for six miles along Lima's Pacific coast cliffs, divided into three sections: Malecón de la Marina, Malecón Cisneros, and Malecón de la Reserva. Walk past couples at the iconic El Beso statue, watch paragliders launch from coastal cliffs, or cycle along dedicated paths while taking in views of the Pacific Ocean and Lima's Costa Verde beaches below.
Start at the northern Malecón de la Marina, which stretches from Manuel Bonilla stadium to Miguel Grau Park. The 21-meter Marina Lighthouse, built in 1900, marks this section. Continue through the central Malecón Cisneros from Miguel Grau Park to Villena Bridge, then follow Malecón de la Reserva south to the Armendariz descent. Gardens, exercise stations, and viewing points line the entire route.
Take off from the cliffs at Antonio Raimondi Park between 10:00 and 18:00, weather permitting. A ten-minute tandem flight with an instructor costs $50, giving you sweeping views of Lima's coastline. Most pilots operate between 14:00 and 17:00 when coastal winds are steady. No experience needed.
Stop at Parque del Amor to see mosaic walls with romantic quotes and the El Beso sculpture, created by Victor Delfín in 1993. Sit on the curved benches to watch the Pacific sunset. Walk to Intihuatana Park to see the ritual stone monument that pays tribute to Inca astronomical practices, surrounded by walking paths with ocean views.
Rent a bike at Larcomar mall for about $5 per hour and ride the dedicated path running the full length of the boardwalk. Stop at exercise stations with pull-up bars and parallel bars placed every few hundred meters. Separate lanes for cyclists and pedestrians make it easy to move at your own pace.
Look out over the Pacific from Larcomar mall's terraces, set 80 meters above the ocean. The mall, built into the cliff face, opens daily from 11:00 to 22:00. Browse through local and international stores, or eat at restaurants overlooking the water.
Reach the boardwalk by taxi or the Metropolitano bus system from central Lima. From Jorge Chavez International Airport, the journey takes 45 minutes. Expect to pay $20-25 for a taxi ride. Choose official taxis or ride-sharing services, especially after dark.
