Gaza is one of the most densely populated places on Earth, and the most impoverished and isolated city in the Palestinian Territories. Blockaded by Israel on three sides and the Mediterranean Sea on the fourth, the city has been called an "open-air prison" by Amnesty International. With a population of over 1.7 million, Gaza is also one of the most youthful places on the planet, with over 60% of its residents under the age of 25. Despite its challenges, Gaza is a city of vibrant culture and strong community spirit. It is also home to the world's oldest continuously running hospital, al-Shifa.
