Cherkasy is a city in central Ukraine, located on the right bank of the Dnieper River. It is the administrative center of the Cherkasy Oblast (province), and is also the center of the historical Cherkasy Raion (district). Population: around 316,000 inhabitants.
The city is known for its numerous parks and gardens, including the Botanical Garden and the Victory Park. Cherkasy is also home to the Kirovohrad Art Museum, the Regional Museum, and the Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater. The city is served by the Cherkasy International Airport.
