Drohobych is a small city in western Ukraine, near the border with Poland. It’s best known as the birthplace of the writer Ivan Franko, and the home of the Drohobych Museum, which is dedicated to his life and work. The city is also a regional centre for the arts, with a philharmonic orchestra and a number of theatres. There are a few interesting churches and monasteries in the city, as well as a few parks and a large forest nearby. Drohobych is a convenient base for exploring the surrounding area, which is filled with small villages, picturesque lakes, and rolling hills.
