Covina is a small city in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California, about 22 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The population was 47,796 at the 2010 census, up from 46,837 at the 2000 census. The city is the birthplace of the California citrus industry and home to the Covina Valley Unified School District. The city is also the location of the first McDonald's restaurant, and is the site of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Southern California Regional Headquarters.
