Cupertino is a small city in Santa Clara County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. The population was 58,302 as of the 2010 census. It is best known as the home of Apple Inc.'s corporate headquarters.
Cupertino is bordered by San Jose to the north, Sunnyvale to the east, Santa Clara to the south, and Los Altos to the west. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 58,302. The median home value in 2009 was $1,313,000.
The original inhabitants of the Cupertino region were the Costanoan Indians. The Spanish first arrived in the area in 1769, when Father Junipero Serra built the Mission San Francisco de AsÃs. In 1851, José Antonio Aguilar was granted the Rancho Rincon de San Jose land grant. The land grant was later confirmed by the US courts in 1857.
