Dearborn has a long and rich history. The first European-American settler in Dearborn was John Allen. He purchased land in 1801 and built a log cabin on the bank of the River Rouge. Dearborn was founded in 1833. It was named for Henry Dearborn, a general in the American Revolutionary War and later Secretary of War.
