Đồng Hới is a small city in central Vietnam that’s slowly gaining a reputation as a tourist destination. The city is situated on the banks of the Sông Bến Hải (Ben Hai River), which forms the border between Vietnam and Laos. The area is famous for its karst landscape, which is particularly striking in the Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located just a few hours’ drive from Đồng Hới. The city centre is small and easy to navigate on foot, and is home to a number of interesting colonial-era buildings, as well as a lively night market. There are also a number of excellent restaurants and bars in the city, and the locals are known for being some of the friendliest in Vietnam.
