Ghazni is a city in central Afghanistan, about 120 km south of Kabul and the capital of Ghazni Province. It is located on the ancient trade route between Kabul and Kandahar and the Ghazni River. It is now the site of a military base and the provincial capital. The city of Ghazni has a population of about 270,000 people. It has a number of historic sites, including the Ghazni Citadel and the Ghazni Mosque. The Minaret of Jam is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
