Braunau am Inn is a small town in Upper Austria, near the border with Germany. It’s best known as the birthplace of Adolf Hitler, and the house where he was born is now a museum. Braunau has a long history as a strategic border town, and the castle that overlooks the town is well worth a visit. The town centre is small but charming, and there are plenty of places to eat and drink. Braunau is a great place to stop if you’re travelling between Salzburg and Munich.
