Klagenfurt

Klagenfurt is a small city in southern Austria that’s often overlooked by tourists. But with a population of just under 100,000, it’s a great place to get a sense of Austrian culture and life. The city is located on the banks of the Wörthersee, a large lake that’s a popular tourist destination in the summer. Klagenfurt is also home to the only university in Carinthia, so there’s a lively student scene and plenty of nightlife. The city centre is small and easy to walk around, and there are plenty of pretty parks and squares to relax in. Klagenfurt is also a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside, including the dramatic peaks of the Karawanken Mountains.
