Schwyz

Schwyz is a small town in the heart of Switzerland, located in the canton of Schwyz. It is best known as the birthplace of the Swiss Confederation and the home of the Swiss National Museum. The town is picturesquely situated on the shores of Lake Lucerne, with the mountains of the Rigi and Pilatus providing a dramatic backdrop. The Old Town is a maze of narrow streets and alleyways, with traditional timber-frame houses and medieval churches. There are a number of interesting museums and art galleries, as well as a lively cafe and bar scene. Schwyz is a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside, with hiking, cycling and skiing all available nearby.
