Located in the North Sea about 60 kilometers off the German coast, Heligoland is a small, picturesque island that is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations. The island is famous for its red sandstone cliffs, which rise steeply out of the sea, and its brightly-colored houses, which are a sharp contrast to the white sand beaches and green vegetation. Heligoland is also a popular spot for windsurfing and other water sports, and there are a number of restaurants and bars in the town center.
