Herford is a small town in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is situated on the River Aa, about 20 km east of Bielefeld and 30 km west of Minden. Herford has been a town since 1214 and was granted city rights in 1248. It is the seat of the Herford district.
Herford is home to the German Football Museum, the only football museum in the world that is dedicated to the history of football in a single country.
