Völklingen is a small town in the Saarland region of southwestern Germany. Once an important center of the steel industry, the town is now home to the Völklingen Ironworks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ironworks are open to the public, and offer visitors a glimpse into the history of the steel industry and the working conditions of the past. The town also has a small museum dedicated to the history of the Saarland region. There are a few restaurants and pubs in town, and the surrounding countryside is a great place for hiking and cycling.
