Zealand is one of the five traditional provinces of Denmark. The capital and largest city is Copenhagen. Zealand is the most populous Danish province with a population of 2,302,371 (January 2016). It is also the most densely populated province with a population of 6,940 per km².
Zealand is connected to the continent of Europe by the Øresund Bridge. The island of Amager lies in the Øresund, bridging the strait between Zealand and Sweden. Zealand is also linked to the island of Funen by the Great Belt Bridge.
Zealand has a temperate climate, with Zealand being in the transition zone between the maritime and continental climates. The weather is affected by the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf Stream.
