Zealand is one of the five traditional provinces of Denmark. The capital and largest city is Copenhagen. Zealand is the most populous Danish province with a population of 2,302,371 (January 2016). It is also the most densely populated province with a population of 6,940 per km┬▓. Zealand is connected to the continent of Europe by the ├śresund Bridge. The island of Amager lies in the ├śresund, bridging the strait between Zealand and Sweden. Zealand is also linked to the island of Funen by the Great Belt Bridge. Zealand has a temperate climate, with Zealand being in the transition zone between the maritime and continental climates. The weather is affected by the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf Stream.
