Billund, a small town in central Denmark, has grown from a rural village into a global destination centered around the LEGO brand. Here you can ride roller coasters at LEGOLAND, build with bricks at LEGO House, and swim in water parks. The town's compact size and pedestrian-friendly layout make it easy to walk between activities, from climbing through treetops to viewing artistic sculptures.

The Original LEGOLAND

LEGOLAND Billund, which opened in 1968, welcomes over 2 million visitors annually. The park has more than 50 rides, shows, and activities built with or themed around LEGO bricks. You can explore miniature recreations of famous landmarks in Miniland, brave roller coasters like The Dragon, or let young children play in DUPLO Land. The park typically operates from late March to October, with exact dates varying by year.

LEGO House: A Brick-Built Wonder

Designed to resemble giant LEGO bricks, the LEGO House opened in 2017 as an interactive experience center. Inside, you'll find play zones, building challenges, and exhibits on LEGO history and design. The building's rooftop terraces give you views of Billund, while the ground floor is open to the public and includes LEGO-themed restaurants. LEGO House remains open year-round, making it a great option even when LEGOLAND is closed.

Lalandia: Scandinavia's Largest Water Park

Just a short distance from LEGOLAND, Lalandia has indoor and outdoor water activities. The Aquadome includes water slides, wave pools, and relaxation areas. Beyond swimming, you can go bowling, play mini-golf, or skate on an ice rink at Lalandia. The complex also has holiday homes, making it a popular choice for extended stays.

WOW Park: Treetop Adventures

Located about 10 minutes from central Billund, WOW Park covers an area equivalent to 40 football fields. You can navigate suspended walkways, zip lines, and giant nets between trees. The park encourages visitors to explore and challenge themselves in a forest setting.

Exploring Billund's Art and Culture

Billund's Sculpture Park displays 19 works made from materials like granite, steel, and bronze. The park allows visitors to appreciate art while walking through nature. For a unique museum experience, visit the Teddy Bear Art Museum housed in a former LEGO manager's home. It displays over 1,000 teddy bears, some of which are quite rare.

Getting Around Billund

Billund is a compact town, and you can walk to many places of interest. The town has implemented a "Playline" - a safe, child-friendly path connecting major points of interest. For destinations further afield, like WOW Park, you might want to rent a car or use local taxis.

Day Trips from Billund

While Billund has several LEGO-themed and outdoor activities, you can also use it as a base to explore other parts of Denmark. The Jelling Monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage site about 30 minutes away, show Viking-era runestones and burial mounds. The city of Aarhus, Denmark's second-largest, is about an hour's drive and has art museums, historic buildings from the 16th century, and a variety of restaurants serving Danish and international cuisine.
