Bressuire is a small town in the Poitou-Charentes region of France. It is situated on the banks of the Bresse, a tributary of the Thouet. The town is best known for its annual cattle market, the largest in western France. The market is held in the Place de la République in the centre of town every Wednesday and Saturday. The town also has a lively market on Fridays. Bressuire is a convenient base for exploring the surrounding countryside, including the forest of Moulière, the Château de Tiffauges and the Marais Poitevin.
