Échirolles is a small town located in the Isère department in southeastern France. The town is best known for being the birthplace of French mountain climber and alpinist, Lionel Terray. Échirolles is also a popular destination for skiers, as it is located close to several ski resorts, including Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes. The town is also home to a large shopping centre, the Polygone, which is one of the largest shopping centres in France.
