History of Èze Village

Èze has a long history, with origins that date back to ancient times. The narrow streets are a reminder of the medieval period when the village served as a fortress. Èze Church, also known as Notre Dame de l’Assomption, was constructed in the 12th century and stands as a fine example of Baroque architecture. Remnants of the old castle at the top of the hill fortify the village's historical significance, though its glory days ended in the 18th century when it was destroyed.
