Nestled in the rolling hills of the Calabrian countryside, Campora San Giovanni is a small, unassuming town that is home to one of Italy’s most beautiful and well-preserved Romanesque churches. The Basilica of San Giovanni Battista is a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture, its facade adorned with intricate carvings and its interior filled with stunning frescoes. The church is located in the town’s main square, which is also home to a charming collection of old stone houses and a few small cafes. Just a few kilometres outside of Campora San Giovanni, the surrounding countryside is dotted with picturesque villages, olive groves and vineyards.
