Castagneto Carducci is a small town in the province of Livorno, in the heart of Tuscany. It is a place of great natural beauty, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and the Apennine Mountains. The town is famous for its wine production, and for the many artists and writers who have lived here, including Giosuè Carducci, the first Italian to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. The old town is a maze of narrow streets and alleyways, lined with Renaissance and Baroque palaces. The main square, Piazza Matteotti, is surrounded by a beautiful portico, and is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
