Tokyo may be the country’s capital and most famous city, but neighboring Chiyoda is often overlooked. This is a mistake, as the district is home to the Imperial Palace, the Kanda Shrine, and a host of other attractions. The palace is the main draw, of course, and is well worth a visit; the gardens are especially lovely in springtime. The shrine is also worth a look, as is the Akihabara district, home to Tokyo’s famous electronics stores. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area, as well as some lovely parks, making Chiyoda a great place to spend a day or two.
