Międzyzdroje sits on Poland's Wolin Island, where a 395-meter concrete pier extends into the Baltic Sea. You can walk along the wide sandy beach beneath steep cliffs, press your hands into celebrity handprints on the promenade, or watch European bison roam in Wolin National Park. The town's 3-kilometer beach draws summer crowds, while hiking trails through the national park lead to Poland's highest coastal cliff.

Swimming and Sunbathing at Międzyzdroje Beach

Walk along 3 kilometers of golden sand or take in Baltic Sea views from the 395-meter concrete pier. You'll find a historic coffee house at the pier's end, where visitors have stopped for refreshments since 1906. In summer, lifeguards watch over designated swimming areas from 9:00 to 17:00. Beach equipment stations every 200 meters rent chairs and umbrellas. The wooden boardwalk running parallel to the beach connects the pier to the town's eastern end.

Walking Through Wolin National Park

Start your park visit 1 kilometer southeast of town. Follow the red-marked main trail for 7 kilometers to reach Gosań Peak, where you can stand atop Poland's highest coastal cliff at 93 meters. Stop at the bison reserve (open 10:00-16:00) to watch 12 European bison from the observation deck. Before hiking, visit the Nature Museum by the park entrance to learn about local plants and animals through hands-on exhibits.

Exploring Town Sites

Walk the 300-meter promenade to find over 100 handprints left by Polish celebrities during the annual July Summer Festival of Stars. The Wax Museum displays more than 110 life-sized figures in themed rooms - from musicians like Freddie Mercury to scientists like Albert Einstein. At the Baltic Miniature Park, walk among 1:25 scale models of 50 Baltic landmarks, including Stockholm Palace and Trakai Castle.

Getting Around Międzyzdroje

Catch trains to Szczecin every two hours (2-hour journey) or take hourly buses to Świnoujście (45 minutes) and Wolin town (30 minutes). You can walk between the pier, beach, and museums in about 15 minutes - they're all within the 1-square-kilometer town center. Rent bikes near the train station to cycle into Wolin National Park on dedicated paths.
