Beslan

Beslan is a small town in the North Ossetia-Alania Republic, in the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains. The town is best known for the Beslan school siege of 2004, in which over 1,000 people, mostly children, were taken hostage by a group of Chechen terrorists. The siege ended with the deaths of over 300 people, including 186 children. The town is also home to the Beslan Athletic School, which was the target of the terrorist attack.
