Upplands Väsby lies 25 kilometers north of Stockholm. Walk through Järvafältet Nature Reserve's pine forests, shop at the three-floor Väsby Centrum mall, or explore the town's rock music landmarks where bands like Europe and Therion started their careers. Regular trains connect to Stockholm in 27 minutes and Arlanda Airport in 7 minutes.

Commuter trains run frequently between Upplands Väsby and Stockholm Central Station, with a journey time of 27 minutes. Arlanda Airport is 7 minutes away by local train. The bus terminal at Upplands Väsby station connects 18 bus routes. Buses 524 through 684 link different neighborhoods and nearby municipalities, running from early morning until midnight.

Shopping at Väsby Centrum

Väsby Centrum opens daily from 10 AM to 8 PM (shorter hours on weekends). The mall spans three floors with more than 60 stores, including ICA and Coop supermarkets, H&M, and Swedish retail chains. You'll find a food court with 10 restaurants, a medical center with general practitioners and specialists, and municipal service offices for administrative tasks.

Music Scene

Europe wrote and practiced "The Final Countdown" in Upplands Väsby during the 1980s. Musicians John Norum and Yngwie Malmsteen lived here while developing their careers. Metal bands Therion and Candlemass emerged from local practice rooms. The music tradition continues with multiple instrument shops and rehearsal spaces throughout town.

Parks and Walking Areas

Järvafältet Nature Reserve has marked hiking trails between 2 and 8 kilometers long. The trails follow Väsbyån, a stream where the rare asp fish spawn in spring. Walking paths connect the western part of town to Lake Mälaren. In winter, when snow conditions permit, you can ski on maintained cross-country tracks.

July and August temperatures average 20°C (68°F), and daylight extends until 10 PM, making evening walks popular. Winter brings temperatures around freezing, with sunset at 3:30 PM in December. Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) temperatures range between 10-15°C (50-59°F) with moderate rainfall - suitable times to explore the town's parks and trails.
