Jamestown

It is the capital of the British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. The town has a population of about 1,000 people. It is the only town on the island. The town was founded in 1659 by the English East India Company. It was the first town in the world to be founded after the discovery of a new land. The town was originally called James Town, after James, Duke of York, who later became King James II of England. The town is located in a valley on the north side of James Hill. The valley is surrounded by high hills, which are covered with trees. The town is a beautiful sight, with the white houses and churches surrounded by green hills.
