Historical Background
The Great Northern Railway station anchored Richmond Beach, Shoreline's first planned neighborhood, in 1890. The area took its name in 1944 when the new school district chose "Shoreline" to reflect its location between Puget Sound and Lake Washington. The district stretched from Seattle's 85th Street to the Snohomish County line.
