Wiener Neustadt is a small city in Lower Austria, about 60 km south of Vienna. It was founded by the Babenbergs in the 12th century and became an important city in the Holy Roman Empire. Wiener Neustadt is known for its medieval fortifications, two of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city also has a lively nightlife and is a popular destination for weekend trips from Vienna.
