Tongeren is a small city in the Belgian province of Limburg, halfway between the cities of Brussels and Maastricht. It’s one of the oldest cities in Belgium, dating back to the Roman era, and it’s still full of historic buildings and monuments. The main square, the Grote Markt, is a beautiful, tree-lined square surrounded by old guild houses and the Town Hall. There’s also a Roman amphitheatre and the remains of a Roman town wall. Tongeren is a great place to wander around, explore the old streets and admire the architecture. It’s also a great place to eat and drink, with a good selection of restaurants and bars.
