Lubumbashi
Lubumbashi is the second largest city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the capital of the Katanga Province. It is a city of contrasts, with its modern skyline and well-paved roads juxtaposed against the vast expanses of poverty and lack of infrastructure. The city is home to a large population of miners, drawn to the area by the vast reserves of copper and cobalt. The city's rich colonial history is on display in its architecture, and the vibrant local culture is on display in the markets and restaurants. Lubumbashi is also a base for exploring the rest of the Katanga Province, which is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in Africa.
