Göppingen is a small city in southern Germany, located in the state of Baden-Württemberg. It is best known as the birthplace of the industrialist Carl Zeiss. Göppingen is a pleasant city with a population of around 60,000. It has a well-preserved medieval center, and is home to a number of interesting museums, including the Zeiss Museum and the Göppingen Museum of Local History. There are also several pleasant parks in the city, and a number of well-regarded restaurants. Göppingen is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area, which is full of charming villages and beautiful forests.
