Fyn is one of Denmark’s prettiest islands, laced with narrow country lanes, ancient villages and rolling fields. The landscape is sprinkled with windmills, castles and manor houses, and there are plenty of beaches and nature reserves to explore. The island’s main town, Odense, is the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen and is crammed with museums and attractions dedicated to the famous storyteller. Don’t miss the charming little villages of Egeskov and Nyborg, the latter home to one of Denmark’s best-preserved Renaissance castles. Fyn is also a great place for cycling, with miles of dedicated bike paths criss-crossing the island.
