Belley is a small town in the Ain department in eastern France. It is located on the banks of the Saône River, about 30 km (19 mi) south of Lyon. The inhabitants of the town are called Belliloises.
Belley is a picturesque town with a lively centre. It has a good range of shops and restaurants, and a lovely riverside setting. The town is best known for its cheese, Bellelay cheese, which is produced in the area. There are also a couple of good museums in Belley, including the Maison de la Rivière et du Patrimoine and the Musée des Beaux-Arts.
