Getting to Leptokarya
You can reach Leptokarya by train from Thessaloniki, with regular services running to Kalambaka and Palaiofarsalos. The Proastiakos Thessaloniki line connects to Larissa. By car, you'll need approximately 1.5 hours from Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia. Once in town, you can walk everywhere within 15-20 minutes.

Ancient Connections and Natural Phenomena
The archaeological site of ancient Leivithra lies near the town. According to Greek mythology, this was where Orpheus, the musician and prophet, was born. When driving to Leivithra, you'll pass the unusual Leivithra Magnetic Field, where an optical illusion makes water and vehicles appear to move uphill. The Leptokarya Serpentine Road leading there has 12 switchback turns and several stopping points with views of the coast and mountains.

You'll find pharmacies, grocery stores, and restaurants throughout the town center. July and August are the busiest months, while May, June, September, and October see fewer visitors.
