Debrecen

Debrecen is Hungary’s second largest city, and much like its larger neighbour, Budapest, it’s a bustling, cosmopolitan place with a rich history and a diverse cultural scene.

The main square, Kossuth tér, is a particularly lively spot, surrounded by a mix of grandiose Baroque and neoclassical buildings and home to a lively market. A short walk from here is the beautiful Reformed Great Church, while the nearby Hortobágy National Park is a must for nature lovers. Debrecen is also a great place to eat, with a wealth of restaurants serving up everything from traditional Hungarian fare to international cuisine.
