Anagni is a small town in the province of Frosinone, in the Lazio region of central Italy. It is located in the foothills of the Lepini Mountains, about 50 km south of Rome. Anagni is famous for being the birthplace of Pope Gregory VII, and as the site of the 12th-century schism between the Catholic and Orthodox churches. The town is also noted for its Romanesque cathedral, the Duomo di Anagni, and its medieval walls. Anagni is a popular tourist destination, with a number of restaurants, bars and hotels.
