Castelvetro is a small town in the Modena province of northern Italy. It is located in the Apennine Mountains, about an hour’s drive from Bologna. The town is best known for its eponymous cheese, a hard, salty cheese that is a local specialty. Castelvetro is also home to a number of small wineries, and the local wines are worth sampling. The town is a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside, which is filled with medieval villages, rolling hills, and vineyards.
