Xalapa is a small city in the Mexican state of Veracruz that’s big on culture and history. The main square, Plaza Lerdo, is a beautiful colonial-era plaza with a towering statue of Benito Juárez in the centre. The city is home to a number of interesting museums, including the Museo de Antropología, which has a large collection of Mayan artefacts, and the Museo de Arte, which has an excellent collection of Mexican and European art. There are also a number of beautiful churches, including the Catedral de Xalapa, which is one of the most important churches in Mexico. Xalapa is a great place to eat, with a wide variety of restaurants serving up everything from traditional Mexican food to international cuisine.
