Aydin is a city in Turkey's Aegean Region. It is the administrative center of Aydin Province. Aydin is located on the coast of Gulf of İzmir, some 95 km (59 mi) south of İzmir.
The city was once the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Lydia. The city has a long and rich history, dating back to the 6th century BC. The region surrounding Aydin is fertile and produces olives, figs, grapes and citrus fruit.
Aydin is a popular tourist destination, with its historic architecture, sandy beaches and hot springs.
