Kahramanmaraş is a city in southern Turkey and the capital of Kahramanmaraş Province. It is located on the banks of the Maraş River. According to the 2009 census, the population of the city is 1,252,641. Kahramanmaraş is a large city and the commercial and cultural center of the region. The city is well known for its textile industry and its production of Kahramanmaraş ice cream.
