Malatya is one of the oldest cities in Turkey, with a history dating back to the Hittites. It’s also one of the most diverse, with a large Kurdish population and a significant Christian minority. The city is located in a fertile valley, surrounded by mountains, and is known for its apricots, apples and cherries. The main attraction is the lovely old bazaar, where you can find all sorts of souvenirs, as well as some delicious local food. There are also a few mosques and churches worth visiting, and the views from the surrounding mountains are spectacular.
